The World is a cruise ship, co-owned by people of different nationalities who sail the world.

Many of them are passionate about traditions and wines, and the on-board cellar has 15,000 bottles from all over the world.

For over 20 years, a “Priory” of the Illustrious Order of the Knights of Medusa, that is to say, an autonomous delegation, has been present there. Alan, the Grand Prior, ably supported by Marinella, the sommelier, Jeffrey, the chef, and Sai, the catering director, perpetuates on the ship the love of wines from around the world and of course Provence, and has made it “one of the most respected wine and culinary societies at sea.”
For the sake of clarity, it is important to note that the history of Medusa dates back to the 17th century and is closely linked to the French Royal Navy. Founded in Marseille, the Illustrious Order established Priories in numerous port cities such as Toulon, Dunkirk, Brest, Rochefort, and others.
This Sunday, June 22, The World was anchored in the harbor of La Ciotat and the president of the FICB Marc Lesk, accompanied by the secretary general Vincent Carrière, responded to the joint invitation of the Grand Prior of the World and the Grand Master of Méduse, Patrick Pons.
Along with around twenty dignitaries of the Order, they were able to visit this astonishing and luxurious ship, and attend the 97th Chapter of this Priory, established on The World since 2003 and which promotes the great wines of Provence across all the seas of the globe.

They were also able to enjoy the delicious cuisine and wines of Cassis, Côtes de Provence and Bandol,

to the rythm of the sips where everyone must empty their glass before chanting:
« Oleo et lampade
Medusa Gaudet
laetificat petrificando
halleluya hallelulya ! »

The FICB President thanked his hosts and presented the FICB medal to the Grand Prior, with these words:
«With the Fédération Internationale des Confréries Bachiques, whose motto is: “sharing the love and reason of wine”, the meeting was inevitable!
Isn’t our mission to bring together all those who share this love and put it into the stage in our brotherhoods all over the world?
We admire the work you’ve done, surrounded by the best, to make Méduse “one of the most respected wine and culinary societies at sea ».
