Pairing the white truffle and wine at Alba (Italy)

The Order of the Knights of the Truffle and the Wine of Alba was founded in February 1967. It promotes the famous wines of the region of Alba and the Langhe in the Italian Piemonte. The Nebbiolo, Bardolo and Barbaresco appellations are among those having reached international recognition.

The Order has its seat in the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, superb building which overlooks the surrounding region and which belong to Count Cavour, famous Italian politician of the 19th century, considered as one of the fathers of the unification of Italy.

The Harvest Chapter of the Order was held on 16 October 2016, in conjunction with the 86th International Festival of the white truffle of Alba. This gave the opportunity to celebrate this sumptuous ingredient of local gastronomy, exported worldwide, during a lavish banquet in the Castle.

Some 20 inductions of Knights of the Order were pronounced, under the leadership of the Grand Master, Bianca VETRINO, member of the F.I.C.B. Board of administration. Alan BRYDEN, president of our federation, presented a conference on “wine brotherhoods: yesterday, today and tomorrow” and he was himself inducted as “knight of honor”.
