The FICB has decided to organise a friendly tournament called the ‘FICB Bottle of the Year’ ,to honour the champion of one of its members each year, while promoting the discovery of wines and the selection methods (competitions, tournaments, etc.) of the participating brotherhoods.
It will take place on the eve of the General Meeting, on 6 February 2026, at the Paris Wine Museum.
The Tournament is open to any FICB member who is up to date with their membership fees.
For this first edition, the style of wines selected is “not sweet, non-sparkling white wine”
A seven-member jury, all from different countries, chaired by international judge Marin Berovic from the OEVE Consulate in Slovenia, was formed.
The bottles will be tasted blind and paired two by two, according to a preliminary draw.
The winner will receive the FICB Bottle of the Year award.
The semi-finalists and finalists will be available for tasting after the General Assembly to delegates and their companions. Everyone will be able to choose their favourite. The candidate with the most votes will win the ‘delegates prize’.
ll wines will then be presented and tasted during the awards cocktail reception, held in the evening after the General Meeting.
Full details can be found in the Tournament Rules, which you can find here, along with the registration form to be completed and returned by 31st December to info@winebrotherhoods.org.
As Pierre de Coubertin said, ‘The important thing is to take part.’
We encourage everyone to participate!
