CONSEIL DES ECHANSONS DE FRANCE

HISTORY

The Conseil des Echansons de France was founded in 1954. It has several hundred professional and amateur members around the world. It has permanent representations in France and abroad to ensure its influence.

As custodians of tradition, the members of the Conseil des Echansons de France embody the knowledge and experience of their illustrious predecessors, who served wine to kings. Their mission is to maintain the quality for which French wines are universally renowned. To this end, they organize prestigious events in Paris, in the provinces and abroad, to help promote the most authentic products of our vineyards.

At the Musée du Vin in Paris, the Confrérie’s headquarters, they celebrate the great traditional wine festivals, dressing up in their finest for the occasion. They then proceed to induct new members of the Confrérie in a majestic ritual. The Musée du Vin, Caveau des Echansons de France, has thus become a major venue for the celebration of wine, a symbol of life and culture.

The Council maintains a choir (“le souffle de Bacchus”) and publishes a periodic newsletter (“La lettre de Ganymède”).
