We received this message from Dr. Donjoon Kim, Grand Commander of the Korean Wine Brotherhood. This young wine society, founded in 2017 in a country where the history of wine is relatively recent, is active and has a lot to offer\u2026<\/p>\n\n

“The event took place over two days and one night, from July 6 to 7, 2026, at the Andong International Convention Center and at various locations throughout the city. Approximately 50 people attended.” <\/em><\/p>\n\n

During the induction ceremony, Dr. Sungrok Jung was awarded the rank of Knight, while Dr. Inhee Cho was promoted to the rank of Grand Officer.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Five performing arts groups took the stage as part of the festival program. It was a truly moving moment, during which the traditions of a wine brotherhood induction ceremony blended beautifully with traditional Korean culture. <\/em><\/p>\n\n

Four white wines from the 264 Cheongpodo Wine brand were served during the event. These wines are made from Cheongsu, a Korean grape variety. They are distinguished by their fragrant aromas, crisp acidity, and excellent pairing with Korean cuisine. <\/em><\/p>\n\n

Andong is also the birthplace of Yi Yuk-sa, one of Korea\u2019s most respected national poets. The names of the wines are inspired by the titles and literary themes of his poems, giving them significant historical and cultural significance. <\/em><\/p>\n\n

The culinary program was carefully designed to introduce participants to Andong\u2019s regional cuisine. Lunch on the first day featured Andong jjimdak, a traditional braised chicken dish, while dinner included Andong salted mackerel. Breakfast on the second day consisted of a hangover soup made with dried pollock, followed by a specially prepared Andong packed lunch. <\/em><\/p>\n\n

The participants stayed at the Hanok Experience Center in Yekki Village, where they were able to experience traditional Korean lodging in a hanok.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

The cultural and tourist program included a nighttime tour of the Wolyeonggyo Bridge, a tour of the Dosan Seowon Confucian Academy, and a tour of the 264 Cheongpodo Winery.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

This event was particularly significant because the inauguration ceremony for the Korean Wine Brotherhood took place as part of a two-day cultural tour in Andong, one of Korea\u2019s most important traditional regions from a historical and cultural perspective. Through wine, local cuisine, traditional accommodations, cultural performances, and regional heritage, participants created unforgettable memories and discovered a unique harmony between wine and Korean tradition.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n
