The Loire, France\u2019s longest river at over 1,000 km, flows through numerous wine regions, including Orl\u00e9ans, Anjou, and the Nantes region, which are represented at the FICB by the Confr\u00e9rie oeno-gastronomique des vins AOC Orl\u00e9ans et Orl\u00e9ans Cl\u00e9ry, the Fins Gousiers d\u2019Anjou, and the Ordre des Chevaliers Bretvins.<\/p>\n\n

On the weekend of May 16 and 17, 2026, the confr\u00e9rie des fins Gousiers d\u2019Anjou<\/strong> held its chapter meeting in Chalonnes-sur-Loire, during the Anjou Wine Festival.<\/p>\n\n

More than twenty winemakers were there to showcase the wines of this region, where Chenin Blanc is the primary grape variety. The region is particularly famous for its sweet white wines, but it also produces wines of all colors, including the renowned sparkling wines of Saumur.Concerts, entertainment, boat rides on the Loire, tastings, and lectures punctuated the event.<\/p>\n\n

About twenty regional brotherhoods were welcomed to the Sailors\u2019 Hall by the host brotherhood.<\/p>\n\n

The brotherhoods made their way on foot to City Hall; the town\u2019s new mayor, accompanied by the departmental councilor, the senator, and the congresswoman, as well as the president of the organizing committee and the president of the wine industry association, welcomed them and thanked them for the values they uphold.<\/p>\n\n

After the official speeches and breakfast, the Saumur marching band and majorettes led the brotherhoods from City Hall to the riverbanks along the Loire, where about ten people were inducted in an open-air ceremony.<\/p>\n\n

After lunch, accompanied by four wines from local winemakers, the Confr\u00e9rie des Fins Gousiers d\u2019Anjou and the Confr\u00e9rie des amis du Roquefort forged an alliance.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>Le soir, apr\u00e8s le d\u00eener propos\u00e9 par le comit\u00e9 de la f\u00eate des vins, un d\u00e9fil\u00e9 aux lampions s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9 dans les\u00a0 rues de Chalonnes\u00a0 ouvert par la voiture ouvreuse (la 2CV de Dominique Pairochon, notre Vice pr\u00e9sident de la FICB au titre de la France Nord), avant\u00a0 un beau feu d\u2019artifice.\n\n

On Sunday, May 17, Father Nectar\u2019s hike took participants through the vineyards and along the banks of the Loire, and a boat tour up the river was organized by the boatmen\u2019s association. An aperitif followed by a picnic lunch was served. <\/p>\n\n
