{"id":7450,"date":"2024-07-16T13:14:45","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T11:14:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/?p=7450"},"modified":"2024-07-16T13:16:01","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T11:16:01","slug":"70th-anniversary-of-the-conseil-des-echansons-de-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/en\/2024\/07\/16\/70th-anniversary-of-the-conseil-des-echansons-de-france\/","title":{"rendered":"70th Anniversary of the &#8220;CONSEIL DES \u00c9CHANSONS DE FRANCE&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Conseil des Echansons de France is a wine-brotherhood dedicated to promoting and defending French wines, as well as the traditions associated with the arts of the table.<\/p>\n\n<p>Founded in 1954, the Conseil des Echansons de France is heir to the traditions of the winegrowers&#8217; brotherhoods of the Middle Ages, and those of the wine-lovers&#8217; brotherhoods of later times. <\/p>\n\n<p>Around the world, it counts several hundred members, both wine professionals and amateur tasters. It has permanent representations in France and abroad to ensure its influence. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"423\" height=\"289\" src=\"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/caveaudesechansons.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/caveaudesechansons.jpeg 423w, https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/caveaudesechansons-300x205.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 423px) 100vw, 423px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Les Echansons hold chapters at their Caveau, located at Place Charles Dickens in Paris, where the great traditional wine festivals are celebrated. This cellar is part of a complex built for the monks of the Abbaye des Minimes, which dates back to the 15<sup>th<\/sup> century. These monks grew their vines on the hillside of Passy, and the location of their cellars on the banks of the Seine facilitated transport of their wines.  <\/p>\n\n<p>On these occasions, the Echansons wear their ceremonial robes, and proceed to induct new members of the Confr\u00e9rie in a majestic ritual. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Intronises.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7439\" style=\"width:578px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Intronises.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Intronises-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Intronises-768x432.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The joyous meals that follow these ceremonies are privileged moments when the art of the table achieves the difficult harmony of wine and food.<\/p>\n\n<p>The wines of Ch\u00e2teau Labastidi\u00e9 (AOC Gaillac), owned by its members, are particularly honored.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/chateaulabastidie.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7431\" style=\"width:464px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/chateaulabastidie.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/winebrotherhoods.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/chateaulabastidie-300x225.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>A choir (le Souffle de Bacchus), whose repertoire ranges from medieval to contemporary, enlivens these events.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the deep galleries of the cellar, the &#8220;Mus\u00e9e du Vin Paris&#8221;, managed by the Echansons, brings together works of bachic art, old viticultural equipment and traditional objects linked to wine consumption. Wine-tasting courses are organized here.
